The Sathya Gaweshakayo organisation said the President’s parliamentary remarks on delays in appointing Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judges were contrary to the rule of law. Founder Premnath C. Dolawatte said judicial independence depends not only on judges’ freedom to write decisions but also on the transparency and integrity of the institutional framework governing their careers.
