Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala says more than 1,000 police officers have been removed from service over wrongdoing. He said some were dismissed over alleged drug trafficking links, ties to criminal gangs, bribery, or dereliction of duty, and that complaints against officers are being investigated quickly.
