Police said the official service firearm of the Officer-in-Charge of the Yatiyantota Police Traffic Branch, earlier reported missing, was recovered from the Kelani River along with ammunition. The Traffic OIC had been arrested on June 28 over allegations that he failed to properly hand over his service weapon and 10 rounds of ammunition, and was later remanded by the Ruwanwella Magistrate's Court.
