Fire near Ella reserve fully contained after renewed operation
The Disaster Management Centre said the fire near the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery in Kumbalwela, Bandarawela, has been fully brought under control.
The Disaster Management Centre said the fire near the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery in Kumbalwela, Bandarawela, has been fully brought under control. Officials said the blaze was initially contained around midnight but re-ignited in places because of dry weather, strong winds and rugged terrain before intensified operations brought it under control by midday.
