NewsFirst reported that the Department of Meteorology says dry weather is affecting several parts of Sri Lanka as El Niño conditions develop and the southwest monsoon weakens. Meteorology Director General Ajith Wijemanne said dry conditions may continue next month, while heavier rainfall is possible in October and November and a national El Niño action plan is expected within two weeks.
