Construction has begun on 57 new houses in Kanaweralla, Passara, under Phase IV of the Indian Housing Project for Sri Lanka's plantation community. The project, implemented with Indian and Sri Lankan government support, will provide permanent homes for families in landslide-prone areas, with India allocating Rs. 2.8 million per unit and Sri Lanka adding Rs. 400,000 per house for infrastructure.
