The Sri Lanka Army carried out a large-scale dengue control and public awareness programme on July 5 under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative. Hiru News reported that 2,026 army personnel took part under the supervision of Army Commander Lt. Gen. Lasantha Rodrigo, covering high-risk areas including Colombo, Pettah, Homagama, Kaduwela, Galle, Matara, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Wennappuwa and Palavi. Troops cleaned mosquito breeding sites, removed garbage and held awareness sessions for civilians, students and teachers.
