The Ministry of Education and the Department of Educational Publications have introduced technical measures, including a computerised data system, to manage school textbook procurement, storage, distribution and inventory. Hiru News reported that the system collects school-level data on student numbers, current stocks and reusable books, while Daily FT said COPA had flagged long-running textbook printing and distribution irregularities, including a Rs. 212 million issue dating back to 2002. Officials told COPA that reforms, including computerisation, have been introduced to prevent similar problems.
