A China EXIM Bank delegation led by Vice President Yang Dongning held talks with Deputy Finance and Planning Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando on July 2, with both sides agreeing to expedite the amended financing agreement for Section I of the Central Expressway Project from Kadawatha to Mirigama. The government aims to complete the required formalities and sign the revised agreement before the end of August 2026, subject to internal approvals by both parties. The meeting also covered broader Sri Lanka-China development cooperation, including tourism, value-added manufacturing, logistics, energy, IT, exports and skills development.
