Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said Sri Lanka has reached a more stable position because mistakes were corrected and work was carried out transparently, Lankadeepa reported. In an online interview, he said information about the country's financial condition had previously been hidden even from presidents, recalled that foreign reserves had fallen to about US$25 million when he took office in April 2022, and said suspending debt repayments was the only option to prevent a total collapse.
