The National Transport Commission announced that the annual bus fare revision would take effect from midnight on July 5 after Cabinet approval. Hiru News reported that ordinary bus fares under 100 kilometres and luxury service fares under 100 kilometres would rise by 12 percent, while ordinary services of 100 kilometres and above would increase by 20 percent and luxury services of 100 kilometres and above by 15 percent, with semi-luxury fares to be calculated at 1.5 times the increased ordinary fare due to a pending Court of Appeal case.
